The Igloo 8 OB is an all aluminium case, styled after the earlier Lian Li designs,
with a Perspex cover on the front panel to add some visual interest. It uses
the same chassis as the other Beantech cases in this group test and includes
the same fans and fan controller, the same drive retaining system, and damped
hard drive mounts. These little rubber grommets are effective at cutting hard
drive vibration noise, because they are fairly soft, and keep the hard drive
from touching the case. The case comes with extra long screws that go through
the grommets and into the hard drive as normal.
Like the Igloo 4, and many Lian Li designs, the very top of the
front panel has a fake carbon fibre weave effect printed onto it. This is a
little tacky and somewhat Max Power. This little boy racer touch spoils what
is otherwise a reasonably attractive case. The Igloo 8 OB costs £91.64
inc VAT, which brings the price of this mid range case very close to the price
of a high end case.
