Coolermaster ATC 201 "Praetorian"

The construction of the Praetorian is strong and simple. The entire case is built from thick plates of aluminium. Most parts of the case are 2 or 3 mm thick. The front panel is a single plate of metal and is a structural part of the chassis, rather than a cosmetic addition. As a result of its robust construction, the case weighs just as much as a similar sized steel case. Not a single part of the case rattles, flexes or bends. The strength and simplicity of the case would provide an ideal blank canvas for an ambitious modding project.

The construction of the case gives it a unique and striking look. On one hand, the simple boxy chassis gives it an industrial feel, but on the other, the high quality of the finish and accessories adds a certain refinement.

Cooling is provided by four 80mm fans. It is sad that such a high end case does not have any provision for 120mm fans, but the large spaces and open construction of the case will aid cooling. The 80mm fan in the top of the case is one of its most attractive features. The grille and mounting bolts are completely flush with the surface of the case, and the fan itself is invisible.

At only £99.86 inc VAT, the Praetorian is a bargain. This kind of quality will normally set you back over £150, which is why this case get's our recommended award.
