CD Repair - Dr Fix It vs SkipDr

Next up: SkipDr..

The skip doctor takes a very different approach to repairing your discs. This is a very simple device and uses no motor and doesn't have a large amount of discs in order to get it working. Unlike the Dr Fix it, where the repair paste warns "Keep out of reach of children. Contents Flammable. Use only as directed. Intentional misuse by inhaling, ingesting can be harmful", SkipDr uses no chemicals at all - the fluid used is "custom filtered water".

So you pop the disc on, give it a spray and start cranking the handle. Unlike the Dr Fix it, which takes the approach of a lot of fast grinds. The SkipDr slowly rotates the CD, giving each part of the CD a thorough grind. Once one rotation has been done in both a clockwise and anti-clockwise direction you are asked to use the buffing cloth to just bring back the shine to the CD. This kit did not come with a deep scratch pad - those were at extra £9.99, but there were two of them and they were substantially bigger than the one suppled with Dr Fix It.

Buffer on left, scratch pad on the right.
