Router in a Suit Case

I had to get up early for my trip to the dentist who is in Bridgwater. Bridgwater, although a crap hole is the only place within 20 miles that I know has cool poky little computer shops selling random bits of junk. I needed a new house for my router which was living in a small cardboard box as shown here with the lid open. The motherboard is a PCchips M570 Super Socket 7 with an AMD K6-2 @ 450Mhz. The ram is 256mb Generic pc133 running at pc100 it has a 56k modem and a 100mbps network card. For cooling I was using a small cpu heatsink and allowing hot air to passively convect out of the top of the box. The electrical tape at the bottom left of the picture is actually holding the HD, a Samsung 8.4GB, to the side of the box. Below that is the PSU. Toasty but it loves it!

So I searched for a small box to house it. Woolworths provided the answer. A nice, square photographer type case. I had been looking for one of these for my main rig but this was the first I had seen. It was a little to small for my Socket A mobo but it looked perfect for my router. Cost £7.99. Incidentally on this very day I found larger ones in Wickes for £14.99, possibly large enough for my main rig but I just spent £30 on a Castek for that. This one even came with a lock on the front and of course a carrying handle. Mobile router!
