Motherboard installation

First step was to see how the motherboard went in. Not very well as you can see. About 3 or 4mm each side too wide. Bugger. Should have bought a tape measure :P

So I had to remove the foamy lining of the box. It was only lightly glued on and came off nicely with a Stanley knife.

But it still wouldn't fit. This called for drastic measure. The PCB of the motherboard had a few mm at either side where there were no copper tracks - just empty silicon. So I got to work shaving them off, ably aided by Stanley.

I eventually got it to fit very snugly by getting rid of these few millimetres, sanding away some of the wooden side of the box and bending the motherboard a little. It still wouldn't go in quite flat but it was good enough. I forgot to take any photos of this stage. The motherboard is now actually wedged in a few mm from the botted of the box.
