The SATA versions of the Diamondmax 9 are virtually identical looking to their PATA counterparts, with similar physical specifications of 8 MB cache and 7200 rpm spindle.

Despite the appearance, these strangely run much hotter than their ATA 133 counterparts. Both SATA models, the 120 and 160 GB sizes, run at 55 degrees. This makes them amongst the hottest drives in this group test, and they will not be suitable for an unventilated case.

Performance is very similar to other SATA drives of the same size. Performance of the 160 GB model is better than the 120GB version and has a lower cost per gigabyte.
