The first card we used was the ATi Radeon X800XT (R423) in PCI Express form.
This card is clocked at 500/500. So that we can compare to our previous results
that were performed on an X800XTPE, we clocked this card up to the same speed
at 560/520. We used version 3.5 of PowerStrip
to do this as our preferred ATiTool wasn't working. We used the 4.6 Catalysts
as the drivers we used for our AGP review wouldn't recognize the card.
The physical form of this card is almost identical to the AGP
version, apart from the slightly different 6 pin adapter for power.
The other card we tested was the nVidia 6800 GT (NV45) also in PCI Express
form. This card is clocked at 350/500 making it a slightly underclocked 6800
Ultra. A little tweaking with Riva
Tuner and this card was happily running at 400/550 so that we can compare
results to our AGP 6800 Ultra. We also used the same 61.12 drivers as were used
in the original testing. These drivers are not the latest and possibly aren't
that indicative of performance, so we ran it on the newer 61.45 drivers as well.
This card is also very similar to its AGP counterpart. It also
uses the 6-Pin power connector. You can also see the SLI connector just above
the fan.
