One of the reasons I picked this case, was because I was at
frys and they didnt have the damn case i wanted. So i started strippin the ones
they did have until I came across this "Sparkle D719g" it had a cool hotswap
retainer that is basically a swing out panel. I wanted an internal resivoir/pump
so all I had to do was plug in the radiator and fill it up - and if I could
pull off mounting it on that sucker I swore I'd give up hookers. I used a 4x4x6
in. carlon J-box from the depot for the tank. I really like these and you can
get a bunch of different sizes, the plastic is easy to work with and the cover
is watertight like a frogs ass. I got a 90 gph pond pump (depot) and drilled
a hole smaller than the cord in the tank and forced it through to make a good
seal with a blob of sillycone. I heated up the fittings on the stove and and
branded em into the lid - this I realized this was a bad idea as I was pulling
the molten plasic and skin off my forearm. I wanted a way to fill it without
pulling the screws out everytime so I got a 2” test plug (depot) and banged
it into the lid with a holesaw and drilled a pinhole in it to let the pressure
out. Then I put a pice of clear tubing up the side to act as a gas gauge since
it was hard to see the level down the hole..then I got myself a 12 coil / 120v
10amp relay (shack) and CG’d it to the side, then I wired it up with a molex
connector so that I could plug it into a drive plug and have it start with the
computer.
I bolted it on with some stainless sheet metal screws. This is what it looks
like out of the case (I must admit it is a damn pretty piece of handiwork for
my ass to have done it).
Here it is installed and swung out in the ‘FILL” position. You gotta admit its
damn slick and the tank wont flop around in transport. I am lookin forward to
showin up at the Gcon 200 in my 72 eldorado and struttin up to the lan ring
in my purple lesuire suit and watchin all the brothers drool on my PIMPIN ASS
watercooled lanparty rig.
