Untitled Document Installation

The Poseidon kit is quite easy to install, and is therefore well suited for beginners. Somewhere between 20-50 minutes and you have it up and ready for testing. I assembled the kit, filled it with de-mineralized water (3R System recommend that you do not use any coolant or the like) and let it run for a day to check for leaks. As there were no leaks I decided to put the kit in my Chieftec Dragon DX case. See picture below.

Everything setup in the case

3R recommend installing the fan to the radiator and then installing the other side of the fan directly to the back of the case. I didn't do this, mainly because of the plastic shroud cover being less than secure. I had the fan blow air onto the radiator instead of having it draw air through it. For testing I tried the recommended setup as well, but it didn't have any noticeable effect on my temperatures so I went with this as I was confident it would hold better.

Leaks

Not much to say about leaks, as there were none. After running with this setup for more than a month I'm happy to say that it still hasn't leaked at all. The rubber gaskets work great, and the clamps seem to be doing a fine job.

Noise

Going from an all-air system to this water cooling solution has really quietend the case a lot. The single fan on the radiator isn't quiet, but it isn't really loud either. I tried running it at 7 volts, which removed a lot of noise and didn't seem to reduce performance by much more than maximum a couple of degrees Celsius. The pump is only audible when the computer is turned off .
