The SBS250 speakers are very much aimed at the entry-level market, priced at only £14.99. What do we get for this sort of money? Well, lets first take a look at the aesthetics of these speakers first..

 

With their matte black finish and general stylish shape, these will look good next to most PC's.

A headphone jack on the front makes it easy to plug in headphones so you don't disturb people - although with a lowly 2.5watts RMS, disturbing people might be a little difficult. These speakers are amplified through the use of a 9v DC adapter. Luckily, these speakers are magnetically shielded - so your monitor is safe from interference.

This 2-speaker setup uses the standard 3.5mm jack that most PC speakers use, but there is nothing stopping them from being used with a CD or MP3 player. There is a nice length of cable between speakers, around 2m.

Using the SBS250 speakers, bass response was not too bad at all due to the inclusion of rear-bass ports. But in general I found songs lost the warmth I was used to with my DTT3500's. It was more tinny, losing the mid-range tones and carrying too much on the top. It couldn't handle the crash of the cymbals very well.

These speakers will suffice for anyone who just needs a cheap pair of speakers for occasional music listening and multimedia use. They aren't anything particular special at all. But at £14.99 and with a pretty sleek look - you can't argue.
