The VP201b is the biggest screen in this group test, at 20.1" and very sleek looking with its matt charcoal finish, and slim bezel only 19mm wide. It has an extremely heavy base with two long flat feet, which make a solid platform for the screen, which can turn from side to side, tilt back and forth, lift itself up vertically, and rotate 90 into a portrait position.

With a 400:1 contrast ratio and a 16ms response time, this screen is well suited to gaming, especially since it does a very good job of displaying both 1024x768, and 1280x1024. The native, and of course sharpest resolution is 1600x1200, which is great for windows, but you will need a very meaty graphics card to play recent games such as Doom3 and Half Life 2 at that resolution.

The fly in the ointment is the stone-age software utility supplied to facilitate the rotating screen feature. It is practically unusable, and resulted in no less than three blue screens of death in under 15 minutes of testing. Fortunately both the ATI and nVidia drivers support this feature as standard. Aside from this, it really is hard to fault the VP201B. With a price tag of over £600 however, this won't fit all pockets.
