Preparing the card

First I had to remove the old heatsink. It popped off easily with two clips. Underneath I discovered a thermal pad, which is not ideal for heat transfer purposes. I had borrowed some nail polish remover (acetone) from a girl in halls to clean it off as I left my cleaner at home :)

And here's the bracket that goes on the back of the card:

It's got nice rubber shock absorbers so you can get it fairly tight on and not worry about it vibrating loose or shorting out your card.
