Ready to go

Annoyingly, I had to move my network card to accomodate this beast, therefore taking up two extra expansion slots rather than one. I think it's just because the solder points on the NIC were quite protrusive. Here's the inserted card, ready to boot up. The whole thing is rather chunky looking. The heatsink is only attached by that clip on the back of the PCB. It weighs a couple of hundred grams at a guess so I don't think it's likely to cause damage. The whole installation process took about an hour (I forgot about the grounding plate so I had to undo all those nuts on the headers again. In case you're confused, there's a couple of Thermaltake heatsinks stuck on various ram chips and things on the card - these are old mods of mine from spare stuff I had lying around.

You may recognise the cable braiding from another article of mine.

So how does it perform?
