Having cut the perspex out it was time to start inserting the window. I peeled
the paper of the perspex and the masking tape off the side panel then got to
work with the rubber moulding.
The instructions said to go round the panel and insert all the
rubber moulding first. But after a few minutes of frustrated failure I found
the rubber would twist up and pull itself out.
So I decided to put the window in and the moulding on at the same
time and just work myself round. The cross-section of the mould had 3 grooves
at 90 degrees around its diameter: one for the case, then one for the locking
strip and one for the perspex window. The fourth 'side' of the strip was blank,
I chose to have this on the outside, I gues you could put the side with the
locking strip outwards but it would look slightly messier. I found I needed
to wedge a few screws and things into the groove for the locking strip to stop
the window popping out as I was going.
When that was done, I went round the edge putting the locking
strip in. The easiest tool for achieving this was the sharp end of a parker
click-down pencil - it was the best I could find at the time.
