Softpedia has an article showing off a little of what to expect in Gnome 2.22, which will be making it's way to Ubuntu in the upcoming Hardy Heron release.

Trying to put that URL as a link wasn't working at all. Might have found a bug in the BBCode extension!
It looks like we're going to have improved web cam support, snazzy windows effects without the use of Compiz (maybe this will mean better compatibility) and better support for DVDs and Digital TV cards. The Gnome VFS looks like it's having an update too, suggesting it will be more transparent (more like FUSE?) so perhaps programs won't have to have GVFS support internally.
Remote desktop has had an update too, being able to scan your LAN and find machines with RD setup, and bookmark them. What a life saver!
Read the article for the full list, but it's looking like a major improvement on an already excellent window manager.
We're also seeing even more EeePC competitors coming to what is soon to be a saturated market. The Norhtec Gecko Laptop runs "Linpus" and I have to admit, looks pretty nice! Did anyone else notice how similar those screenshots looked to the Asus Launcher on the EeePC?
