OpenOffice 2.3 is getting a little long in the tooth with it's Office 2000 feel, so I think a lot of us are waiting for version 3.0 to come out. Little known to me, before that we have version 2.4 to look forward to.
However, OOO Ninja (what a name!) has a sneak look at what is to come in version 3.0. It's looks to me like more graphical changes than anything, but that is what I feel needs improving. I find that things just aren't quite where I expect them!
Over at Phoronix, there is news that AMD has released the production microcode for all its GPUs. This is the code that is currently found in the closed source "fglrx" driver. I'm still a bit of an Nvidia fan over here, because I'm been so impressed by the Linux drivers - but it sounds like things might be starting to balance out a little!
eBuyer has a nice deal on an office chair plus desk for £39.98. I'm thinking this might suit my house mate!
And finally, Methane has been found on a planet 63 light years away. Not quite the "we've found them!" headline I expect to read every morning, but we're making progress! Right?
I like the mini random techy news roundup! Can we have more?
Yeah. Maybe Is should make a single thread for them all to belong in.
I like this idea as well, great stuff with links to go with. ![]()
