Is it true that Linux doesn't suffer from viruses and the like. Do you need Linux anti virus software?

No, you don't need to run Anti-Virus. Although you can still run it to remove windows viruses from your e-mail etc. so you don't pass them on :)

I'm amazed! No one has written a virus for Linux!! I'm very pleased as well, are viruses written just to spite and annoy Microsoft and their customers?

What antivirus can run on Linux/Thunderbird to clean e mails?

There is malicious code out there, but because of the way Linux works, you'd pretty much have to run it purposefully. The major issue with Linux is vulnerabilities in code - which are usually ironed out and patched very quickly (unlike MS).

I see, because it's a digital Lego set you would have to plug in a virus. That would make one an idiot! :| unless you were unlucky enough to pick up some bad code from somewhere not recommended, that would make one an idiot as well.

It's only a matter of time before Linux gets targetted and people come up with ingenius ways of getting you to do things, but I'm convinced whatever happens, there will be a good Open Source way of dealing with things.
