at PC World.Hey guys.
My graphics cards gone to pot. I don't play games on my PC really anymore, but something that could reasonably handle a modern-ish game would do nicely.....preferably no more than £70.
My spec is:
Core 2 Duo E6400
2GB Geil Dragon Cas4 PC6400
Asus Mobo.....not sure exactly which one it is
Enermax 500W
Ati Radeon X1950Pro
I'm thinking of spending £150~. What do you guys reckon I should upgrade? I just could do with a bit more speed...
Have a look at this Mike, it's well in your price range and most people agree the new type 8800GT's with 512 Meg of memory are the dogs undercarriage!

I'm assuming you have an PCIe socket. If not, have a look on e buyer for AGP cards, there are still some decent ones around.
Agreed - 8800GT or 9600GT is the way to go. The 9600GT is a little cheaper, e.g.

Apparently it's faster than the 8800GT for some games (though slower for others) but either would be good.
You could always spend some of that extra £50 left over to buy a nice Thermalright HR-03 passive cooler for the card so it's nice and silent ![]()
Silence would be golden. I'm also trying to think of ways to run my PC almost completely silent.
Thanks guys!
