at PC World.Hey guys and girls.
Sitting here with nothing to do, I thought I'd conquer that "god I haven't done anything today" feeling so I went about trying to repair my Sub and Amp package that's been sitting in my garage for a year. God knows why it stopped working? Oh yeah because someone put a 25A fuse in the amp instead of a 20A.
Ooops
So I'm a total novice when it come's to electronics, I only just remember that fixed resistors have colour coding an that's something I learnt in year 9. So taking the Amp out of the box it's totally protected in a metal housing, thinking it'd be fine to just undo the screws an take it apart I begin to realise that it's infact glued together. Marvellous! So Mr.Angle Grinder took a brief visit (safety second, fixing stuff first) and here it is sitting on my desk:

Just by plugging it in, I can hear a pretty faint high pitch screech and the 'Power' l.e.d doesn't light up.
Rather than spending out £60+ for a new Amp, is there anything I can do to fix it?
That screech is usually something to do with the switch mode power supply. From my experience, these can be a pain. That resistor will just be the tip of the iceberg - but no harm in replacing it and seeing what happens!
Check the MOSFETs though.
Gah!
Seeing as I only have industrial sized tools an only a very vague idea to what I'm doing, I think it's best I turn to Ebay.
