I was lucky enough to be given 3 tickets to see Duran Duran at the O2 on July 3rd. At almost £50 a ticket, I probably wouldn't have forked out to see them, but I'm glad I went. The only Duran Duran album I have is their "Best Of", which I remember listening to obsessively for a short time while I was at University. I was very pleased to know every song in their set, apart from their new material. I was expecting a lot of new material, but it was more like 3 or 4 songs, and I have to admit I enjoyed them - enough that I imagine I'll buy their new album for a listen.
When Simon Le Bon came on stage, I was expecting to see some sort of 80s throw back, but he and the whole band have managed to find a look that's quite modern. Their newer music reminded me slightly of IAMX - one of my favourites to listen to.
DD were accompanied by a black female singer in tight PVC, that I didn't catch the name of, but she added some good backing vocals as well as strutting her stuff in her own little corner of the stage.
This is certainly a gig I can stick to the top of my list, and many thanks to Anne for giving me the tickets! If you're a Duran Duran fan, I'd seriously check them out!

You can just about make out in this picture, the sheer number of mobile phones in use throughout the gig, of people taking photos or short video clips. At one point, Simon requested we all take our mobiles out, much like lighters were used in "the old days", and it was amazing how much screen light I could see!
I wasn't that impressed with my N95s ability to take pictures at the event, and certainly wasn't good enough to take film as the sound was distorted. Despite being a 5MP camera, I think the 3MP camera on my Sony k800i was far superior ![]()

I'd be interested to know exactly what makes the Sonys so much better, I don't really know a great deal beyond the basics of how a digital camera works. I made almost the exact same comment in the Post A Picture thread a month or so back.
I amagine it has to do with the fact that Sony took over Minolta/Konica and they are filtering over better camera technology to their other devices.
