I did a bit of work on my office today, and thought as it was tidy, I would take some pictures of it! You can see some more images on my facebook.

On the left, you'll see my Shure SM7A microphone with Behringer pre-amp. Then I've got two Samsung 22" displays. Underneath the desk I've got a Shuttle for work, and a full sized machine for gaming (which rarely gets turned on now I've got games working in Wine...).

The newest addition is the surface to the right. It started life as a corner unit with a lift up lid. I hated lifting a lid up as I had to take everything off the top. So I cut the front off. Then I took some chipboard and cut it to shape to fit my "room" exactly, before covering it in some of that vinyl sticker stuff to make it look nicer.

I'm using two office partition walls that I picked up from my local furniture warehouse.

Now I have the extra surface, I need to have a re-think on how I'm organising things. I may well move my soldering station over to the right and make the middle my extra office area.

I didn't need the extra surface too much, but it's nice to have somewhere to stack things under (boxes, bags etc.) but keep them out of the way.

I'm tempted to remove the doors from my internal wardrobes and replace them with curtains so I can stack stuff in front of them. (the bottom 2ft is solid anyway).

For the moment, I've put the cat's bed in there to see if she'll start using it. Unless it's my best tops, she doesn't want to sleep on anything I decide she sleeps on.

    How's your office looking?

I really like your setup Spode. The dual monitor setup is making me salivate. :D

I recently lost my office and now take up a wall in our master bedroom. I installed a shelving system I had in my office in the bedroom but I need more room. The actual desk space is pretty small. Only problem is I have to make it look less "officy" and more "bedroomy" for the wife's sake. :P

We're a bit cramped here - it's a good sized 1 bedroom flat...but a 1 bed flat nonetheless! In the living room we've got 2 laptops, a desktop (which doubles as the tv), printer, my yamaha keyboard, a clothes horse and a load of boxes containing books, cds, etc! Definitely need somewhere with 2 bedrooms...don't think that'll happen til at least next year though :(

I often take my laptop into the kitchen, and sit at the (small) kitchen table. It's a bit quieter there, and better for my posture than sitting on this sofa!

This is the closest I think I'll get to having a bedroom AND an office. With today's housing prices, I just don't see it happening in a hurry!

If I were being cynical, I might say that the best reason for staying in a long-term relationship right now, is to be able to afford a house...

...lucky I'm not that cynical, eh?! ^o

OK, confession time. My desk looks like this:

...tidy. I like how the stuff is stacked on top of the printer in such a way that it can still print!

And... sun cream? Expecting to see the sun any time soon? Heh.

I can't really remember why any of the stuff is there. It just seems to occur, like some sort of natural phenomena.

If it's anything like my desk, it just grows there or something.

I find as I'm working from home, I have to keep it tidy or I can't work properly.

As long as there's space to move the mouse it doesn't really bother me. :P

How many watches do you need Ivan? - I find that one that works is usually enough.

I collect watches like I collect MD players. :P

I actually have a watch for different situations and/or outfit. Yes, I color match my clothing. :$

Is that background a long-exposure shot of the "mystify" screensaver or just a very cool background? If the latter, I want!

I am sure I can find it. I know I downloaded it from the official repository. I think I saw it at the GNOME Eye Candy site too. I'll look for it tonight when I get home. ;)

    Yays!

    ...but it's 1280x1024 so it's a bit stretched on my 1920x1200 screen...

All of my most prized possessions are in this shot! Alienware laptop, Logitech MX Revolution mouse, Palm Centro, and Canon Powershot S80 camera taking the photo...
