Whilst out and about last night for London fashion week, I found my way to “The Hospital”, an interesting venue just off Covent Garden that is currently being sponsored by Samsung to show off the works of Valentino Garavani. I'm sure if I cared about fashion, it would have been rather interesting, but instead I found myself with a glass champagne wondering who everyone was. It's a good thing that being surrounded by attractive women is one of my personal favourite hobbies.

Just as I was about to leave, I ran into Jamie Bamber, who played Lee “Apollo” Adama in Battlestar Galactica. As I have been watching a lot of this recently, I instantly recognised him and was rather excited at the fact (as you can probably tell from the photo above, where I'm grinning quite a bit). I was very surprised to discover I was taller than him – and I'm only 5”10.

I felt it was my duty to geeks everywhere to go over and have a chat, so said “I'm sorry – I don't know your name, but you're from Galactica aren't you?”. What a line – but hey, at least I'm honest and I didn't call him by his characters name. He was very understanding, asked my name and promptly introduced me to his wife – what a gentleman! I talked to him briefly about Galactica where he exclaimed how much fun doing the series was and how disappointing it was that it was all over as he got to work with so many great actors. I realised very quickly I was making the awful mistake of asking the questions he must get asked a thousand times, that I could Google if I really wanted to know. Luckily, he then asked what I did and why I was here, giving me an opening to talk about technology – once again, a very polite thing to have done indeed.

After explaining a little about what I did, I asked him if he was “into technology” to which he responded “only if it makes my life easier”. He then went on to mention that he pretty much buys anything that Apple brings out. I would say that if I had the money to do so, I'd probably be quite similar – so I won't mark him down for that. In a vain attempt to keep the conversation going, I asked him if he'd seen the EeePC before, which he hadn't – so I was more than happy to take out my 7” for him to have a look (giggity). His instant response was – can't my iPhone do all that? I guess not everyone spends their time writing lengthy blog posts :)

As someone who is only half way through Season 3 of Galactica – I look forward to watching him in the near future! Anyone who spoils it for me in the forums will be thrown out of the nearest airlock.

    *Update*

Apparantly my picture was the only picture to make it out of Jamie's brief appearance, so I have found my way on to the front page of Bamber Bunnies! Nothing quite like second hand fame.
