at PC World.Hi folks,
Sorry I've not been around much. Have just moved flat, and was off in Paris this weekend too. Can't wait until this weekend, when I can relax a bit (not a lot though...still tons to do)!
Anyway, I'm trying to find reviews of digital film scanners (to convert old slides). Does anyone know of any recent comparisons articles online? The only comparisons I could find were from 2001.
Thanks in advance!
I know of a couple of people that have film scanners, but not much else. Unfortunately, it looks like film is a dying format in the consumer arena.
With that said, I remember reading about someone using a regular scanner with a small box and mirror glass to scan film. I'll see if I can dig that up. Maybe it will help.
I found this one, not the one I was thinking but it is interesting: http://photocritic.org/film-scanner/
Here is another one with the same concept: http://www.philjern.net/DUPER/index.html
Hehe. Thanks Ivan, but it's not really what I'm after. Trying to find a present for dad, as he has loads of old slides and a rapidly growing digital photo collection. So it'd be nice if he could get all his pictures in one place.
Okay, sorry,
I'll check with some photo buddies then, see what they say. ![]()
Hi Huddy, have a look HERE There are two on this page. I'm sure some of the Epson scanners have built in film facilities, or they did up to recently. Have a hunt round the web, I'm sure you should find more. The dedicated film scanners give better results.
