General: Fedora Craziness

    I've just installed Fedora 11 on my Samsung NC10.

    I've been following a very handy blog here with thoughts on setting it up and various power saving things.

    However, I have one problem. When I put
    nomodeset

    into the kernel parameters in /etc/grub.conf I can't log on - when you enter the password in the logon screen the screen flashes a few times, goes black and returns to the logon screen.

    I have no idea why this is the case. Any ideas?
