General: Redirect Virus

The Google redirect virus is really nasty this year it seems, or is it just me? how many here have had issues with this in the past? It's struck my computers twice now and I'm getting sick of it. After doing some research I found out that it's a deep rootkit virus called Alureon that passes your firewall because it jumps aboard a printer process driver of some sort, so the likelihood of anti-virus ever catching it is slim.
