When Pandora was available in the UK, it helped me discover a few new bands. This year I've been to see Rush, Dream Theater and Roger Hodgson (of Supertramp fame). This sort of area is where most of my music taste has been for a while now.

For some reason, I was inclined to put "Sneaker Pimps" into Pandora, as I remember liking a few of their tracks. This bought up music that I didn't really know was out there, and enjoyed. One such band was I Am X, a side project of Chris Corner, their male vocalist. Another band was Hooverphonic, coming from Norway. The Magnificent Tree is an amazing album, covering a variety of different styles - but has a feeling of Moloko, Portishead and The Cardigans.

The band I specifically wanted to mention was I Am Jen. All of her music is available to stream from her website, and then you can purchase DRM free tracks for the minimal cost of 99 cents. I wanted a physical copy of this as a present for my sister (Jen) and managed to hunt down a copy of her EP "Broken", at Norman Records - a shop that specialises in hard to find music. For what it cost, I was disappointed to find that what turned up was a home burnt CD, but this was offset by the hand made cd slip. If you want something to listen to while you work, give it a listen - it's fairly chilled out electronic music.

    Nice! I likes these chuunes.

I never bothered with Pandora, but now it's not available in the UK, I wish I had! I'm gonna have to work "something" out, I think...

    ;)

I was fiddling yesterday trying to get around it. Tor was an option, but very slow. Using a US Proxy was an option, which was also very slow. Web Proxys like proxify.com don't seem to work. Short of renting a cheap server in the US and setting up my own SOCKS server, I'm stumped for the moment.

Last FM isn't bad, but it's no Pandora :(

I meant locally, and by locally, I mean in the US. :D If I have to import it I will do that but prefer not to because of the exchange rates right now.

Yup, New York if I'm not mistaken. Have you listened to any of it on her website first?
