Is the cat pawing a window? 'tis a pity the paw is out of focus, but otherwise a nice photo ![]()
Is chewie short for chewbacca, if so shes a liitle short. ![]()
The cat was trying to swipe a stick I was playing with her with.
And she was named Chew because she chewed everything when she was a kitten (especially live electrical wires that were plugged in - how she didn't kill herself I'll never know) - chewie is the long version.
My dog was named after princess leah though...
Ironically, my cat is called Obi, which is a shortening of Oberon. It seems we are both cursed with non-star wars names.
Living in the countryside, surrounded by farms, one would think that we might have lots of pets. Alas, this is not the case. We used to keep small fish in 2 tanks, however a gross lack of interest in them meant that eventually we forgot to feed them. After a while we realised that all but one remained (my sister named it Fred), but as time went by, we forgot to feed that one too.
So now we are left with one tank that's still full of water, containing a very green log. When guests come over to the house, they always stare at the tank and ask, "What's that!?"
"That? Oh that's our pet log."
It doesn't have a name.
We went to visit my brother in North Carolina these past two weeks. My daughter wanted a picture with her Uncle's (work) car. ![]()

Here is a night exposure, Just learning my camera's manual controls. exposed for 15 seconds:

Was back at Stirling Uni last night (having originally graduated in 2006), at the 'Final Fling' in a 1200-person marquee by Airthrey Castle. Was an amazing night, but wil be ages before I see some of my friends again, as three of them are moving down to London at the end of the month ![]()
So am both happy and sad, but am really glad that I got some good pictures. Thought I'd post 2 of them here.
Ah, I remember my final ball. I grew a moustache and had a top hat, tails and a cane.

Ok, but did you take a cheesy grin with you? A spode without cheese is hardly a spode at all...

Just for you...

Where's the hat? ![]()
Yeah, I don't think I found one in my size.
There's that cheesy grin we know and love!
Well, know and like.
...know and put up with...

Is that supposed to look like a pair of kids standing/surfing on manhole covers, over water shooting up out of a water main?

Yup, exactly what it is. ![]()
Posted By: ClubBarfThis thing was about 12 inches across. Maybe that's an exaggeration, I dunno... But it was definitely HUGE.

Now that is something you don't see around here. ![]()

Yeah, I'm not seein' it... ![]()
I had a look through a few moth books and couldn't find out what that thing is. Maybe I'll send a link to my uncle who's a moth expert (amongst other things).
Anyway, I was having a rummage through the stock room at work the other day and found a camera that we'd had since 2004. Sensing a bargain I approached the boss and sure enough he made an offer I'd have been stupid to refuse. It's a Sony DSC-F828 and is my first non-compact digital.
So I've been out in the garden learning how it works:
Inky, resized.

Not quite successful bee attempt, cropped and resized.

Thought I'd share a couple of pictures with you guys that I took at the honey club. On a monday I run a drum and bass night.
It's a lot of fun, but at the moment only really makes me pocket money. I had quite a lot of fun taking pictures, as the lights move so fast you can get some really interesting shots.
Pete - love the bee. I rather like the way the flower is in focus and the bee isn't quite...
Mike - love those nightclub shots, especially the DJ shot. Proof that being in focus isn't always the ideal and desired shot...
As for that moth, apparently it's an "Atlas Moth". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlas_moth
some good shots there CB. ![]()
Nice shots CB! You clearly have an excellent eye for composition, which is something, unfortunately, I don't possess. I'm not sure it's the kind of skill that can be taught either. I headed to Dungeness on Sunday with camera and wasted what I was sure on the day were classic shots. Still, that's the joy of digital.

Thanks, fellas. I'm kinda new to DSLR photography, and I'm learning a lot in a short space of time (and I've not even picked up my "DSLR photography for dummies" book yet). I'm thinking of taking up Photography as an alternate career choice (IT is behind me).
More Balloon Festival pics. This time it is from a couple of weekends ago.
