Ivan - were you using a graduated ND filter, or a polariser/CPL filter or something of that sort in those pics? The sky looks fabulous...
I just got me a CPL for my 18-70. Not had time to use it yet, though...
And a 28-80mm lens, and a 70-210mm, and a 75-300mm, and a 500mm mirror lens, 24mm macro, and and and...
(ebay job lot - hasn't arrived yet though, I have to arrange a courier to pick it up, or drive up there...)
Nope, straight lens on my Canon A590IS.
No post editing either. Just naturaul early morning sky plus what ever post processing the camera does on its own.
That's one fabulously blue sky...
Do you get that kind of sky often over the desert?

I live very close to El Paso, TX. The city's nickname is "The Sun City". It's pretty much clear skies and sun for about 302 days out of the year.
I *NEED* to photograph that. For about 302 days. Every year.
:p
Well, today is not one of those 302 days. ![]()
Pretty big sand storm going on now. *coughs*
On the way home from work I snapped this pic. I used the trunk lid of my car as a shield while I quickly snapped the shot. This is the same general area where the balloon shots were taken.

Ok, so Paradisa del Ivan has a downside...
I don't have a camera on me, but down here in Brighton today the sky is completely cloudless and an incredibly vibrant tone of blue. Looks amazing.
That last picure needs manipulating. I think it would look much better with a deep blue sky...
nothing the gradient tool cant take care of. ![]()
My XP laptop being a Vista Pozer
:

That would be VTP, no?
My dog:

She's a little post-processed (B&W'ing most of the shot) but that's her, having just gotten covered in wet sand (which seemed to think it was mud).
Oh, and instead of graduating the sky on that car shot, I thought I'd go another direction with the processing:

Anyone like this?
Got me a photobucket. I'll probably just shove the best shots in there as a showcase...
http://photobucket.com/broton <- The mighty Broton's photographs. "The mighty Broton" is a name my bro gave me, after I nicknamed him "Brosef", in case anyone's wondering.
I usually cringe when I see anything that's been processed so radically, but the car works quite well. Only thing is in sepia the lines in the field in front of the headlights make it look at first glance like someone's done a really poor job covering something up with the push brush!
I thought I'd process one of my photos a little - and maybe I went a bit mad...
Before:

After:

Oh my word! That's blue!
Yeah, maybe a little too blue?
Yeah, just a touch. Try the dropper tool to pinch the colour from another shot.
I did! I think I should have used one of Ivan's shots, though.

Man, that pic would have benifited by the HDR process. I want to try my hand at it.
What happened? looks like a huge traffic jam.
Here are some instructions on HDR processing in GIMP.
http://www.instructables.com/id/HDR-photos-with-the-GIMP/
But that picture is supposed to be non-HDR! I was trying to capture the miserableness of the traffic jam and juxtapose it against the gorgeous sky...
I actually deliberately darkened everything below the treeline to accentuate that.
Don't get me wrong, I like the shot. ![]()

HI CB Man when you shift gears you don't go half way. I 've been busy lately so haven't had much time on the forum. You seem to have a knack for photography. I like what I'm seeing here carry on. ![]()
