Yeah, I've not been at it long...

I'm hoping to take a photography course and get really good at it.

Not sure a course is going to get you much further. Getting in touch with some pros would probably help though :)

I agree. That and practice. I know someone from another forum and he is getting really good. He is in London IIRC. He shadows a couple of pro photographers and I can't beleive the jump in his photo skills.

I wish I had more time to practice. :(

The course I was thinking of was a correspondence course run by photographers for people who want to go pro...

Sounds iffy. There are a lot of photography sites with some good info out there.

@ Spode: I found it on flickr while searching for warning signs. :D

Well, they're accredited by ASET apparently. No idea who they are though. I should talk to my mate Andy at Greenwich College, he'll know more, he's a course/careers advisor.

Slightly post-processed - removed the telegraph wires that used to come right up to the top left corner of the photo, and removed a lot of sheep poop from the field at the bottom, and made the colours a teeny bit more vivid...

You should come to one of our demos and take some photos for us. Heh. Maybe make a Think Bikes calendar :D

Remnants of hurricane Dolly have made it to the desert southwest. Reminiscent of the storms of 2006, we are now under a flash flood warning until tomorrow.

Let's just say I am not in a highland area. Last time (2006) this happened, the flood waters got close (about 300M away). It has stopped raining now so lets hope we have seen the worse of this. I also uploaded some video to a local news site: http://www.communitycorrespondent.com/kdbc/story.php?id=31752

More like 30 seconds. 15 seconds on the evening news and 15 seconds on the nightly news. :P

Like that "shot" Colin. Pun most certainly intended. :P

There's another one from top of Devils Dyke in Sussex (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil's_Dyke,_Sussex) that I took on Sunday. I discovered a panorama function on my Nokia 6120 and am very surprised how well it came out.
