As part of my journey as a technology journalist, I've used a lot of benchmarks. I've also written a fair amount of benchmark scripts for the various publications I've worked with, none of which were publically available. However, the 2007 Custom PC Benchmarks Suite is free to use by everyone.

The suite is a 338MB download. The documentation contains complete information on the tests involved, including how to use it from the command line.

Some people have been having issues with using the benchmark suite - mainly, it crashing on Image 36 in GIMP. This should now be fixed in the latest install (above). However, if you have previously downloaded the suite, you can download the latest executable, and just copy it over the top.
